Derriford Estates Mechanical
and Electrical Team
Totnes Raft Race
On Sunday 1st October eight members of Derriford Estates Mechanical and Electrical Team took part in the Totnes raft race, also known as the River Dart Struggle, along with 60 other rafts, to raise money for the Children’s Happy Hospital Fund (CHHF) which helps children and their families at Derriford Hospital.
Other colleagues in Estates wondered whether they would re-enact the sinking of the Titanic! After three hours and twenty seven minutes they finished 27th minus two paddles, a broken flag pole and bent and battered metal frame. Medals were presented to the crew by the Mayor of Totnes. The crew managed to collect £492.
Thanks go to Zack Ham and Sam Cogley who did the bulk of the construction, as well as paddling. Other team members were: – Ritchy Butchers, Phil Lomas, Chris Wills, Nathan Ellis, Chris Lyall, and Dan Arscott.
