Plymouth College Preparatory School donates £1865
Plymouth College Preparatory School has kindly donated a sum of £1865.40 to the children’s wards at Derriford Hospital.
Pupils at Plymouth College Preparatory School took part in a sponsored ‘Skipathon’ which was organised by teachers, Natasha Vanstone and Louise Gregory. At different times during 2017, both Natasha and Louise’s children were admitted to Woodcock Ward at Derriford Hospital. Natasha and Louise were both heartened by the care their children received from the team of doctors, nurses, health care assistants and support staff in the Emergency Department, Children’s Assessment Unit and Woodcock Ward.
The pair said: “We were particularly impressed by the play specialists who engaged so well with the children, providing activities, rewards and helping us all through some very challenging times.
“We wanted to show our gratitude by giving something back, so we decided to organise a sponsored ‘Skipathon’ at school to raise money for the Children’s Happy Hospital Fund.
“The headmaster and teaching staff of Plymouth College Prep School embraced the idea of raising funds for such a worthwhile and local cause.
“The enthusiasm of the pupils combined with the generosity of their families helped to raise an overall total of £1865.40, which we hope will go towards making a difference for young patients, their families and carers.”
